Tomales Bay and Bodega Bay Fishing Report Week of 6-23-24
Bodega Bay Fishing Report 6-20-24 Strong north winds all week cooled down onshore water temps down to the mid 40s which made fishing a little slower today. In the morning we found a very slow rockfish bite. After checking many shallow spots we ventured to a slightly deeper area in about 110 feet of water and finally found blues and yellows willing to bite, we quickly gathered limits of rockfish with a few very good quality reds in the mix. Even with a lot of effort we had no success on lings. Bodega Bay Fishing Report 6-21-24 Weather got a…

Tomales Bay and Bodega Bay Fishing Report 6-14-24
Tomales Bay Fishing Report 6-11-24 From Capt. Josh. We had great weather on Tuesday for our halibut trip. We had Anthony and his 2 sons out and ended up with 3 nice halibut. All fish came on trolled herring. Plenty of bait has pushed into the bay, so we will starting making our own in the mornings and try our luck drifting, once the wind lays down. Bodega Bay Fishing Report 6-13-24 On Thursday we had a small break in the wind and were able to get a rockfish trip in. After a long drive against the swell we arrived to…

Tomales Bay and Bodega Bay Fishing Report 6-8-24
Wind and more wind. Bodega Bay Fishing Report 6-8-24 With some not so great weather forecasted and a private charter who wanted a few fish for dinner we made our way north against the swell. I found green water in place of the clean blue water we fished on last week. Some south wind the day before had apparently pushed it all the way up the coast which in turn made it difficult to catch lings, but the rockfish were luckily somewhat hungry with the higher water temps in the mid 50s. We picked up about 40 rockfish pretty quickly…

Bodega Bay Fishing Report Week of 5-31-24
Wind continues to blow, but the lingcod bite has started to improve. 5-26-24 Capt. Josh sent me the following report. Sunday May 26th we took the Taylor family north for some rockfishing. we started at sunken reef and worked our way up the line to timber cover where we managed over 30 rockfish and 5 lingcod. The rockies were a bit stubborn but the lings were biting good with many missed opportunities. overall a great day for their 10 year old and 6 year old sons. 5-27-24 Capt Josh ran this trip as well and sent this report. Monday memorial…

Bodega Bay Fishing Report Week of 5-19-24
We are Finally back to Bodega Bay, rockfish are biting good and the Lingcod are a bit hit or miss. 5-16-24 Capt. Josh ran a personal trip and found a quick limit of lings on a flat ocean. Great way to start off the year in Bodega Bay. 5-17-24 For my first trip of the year things started out slow with some choppy weather and very slow fishing but ended with limits of lings and blues. We searched many spots with slow fishing but found an area near a wash rock in very shallow and got onto a solid bite…

San Francisco Bay Halibut Fishing Report Week of 5-5-24
SF Halibut Bite Remains Steady 5-3-24 Capt. Josh ran north to China Camp and reported a very good bite all day trolling small dodgers with anchovies. They quickly gathered up limits of good quality halibut for the private charter of 4. 5-5-24 A storm blew through for Saturday, so Capt. Josh canceled the trip and the clients rescheduled, but the weather calmed down for Sunday and he got right back on the fish. He fished south of Red Rock and quickly had 13 nice sized fish by 1pm, reporting a good bite especially in the late morning/ early afternoon. On…

Bodega Bay Fishing Report Information:
Captain Ryan primarily writes these fishing reports when he gets a chance on Sunday or Monday evenings. Sometimes life gets in the way and it gets delayed. But if we leave the dock, whether the fishing’s good or bad, it will end up on this report eventually. Our Fishing reports will include Tomales Bay, Bodega Bay, Fort Bragg, San Francisco Bay and anywhere else we fish. You can expect fishing reports from Bodega Bay and Tomales Bay regularly. These reports are available for most of the summer, fall, and early winter. We continue until we dry dock the boat around Christmas. Currently the only other honest and first hand experience fishing report is from Willy with the Lawsons Landing Report down at Dillion’s Beach. We will also include fishing reports for our personal trips (when we are lucky enough to get them in) and tips and info from friends or other boats when we can get them. We are working on expanding this section of the website and archiving fishing reports out of Bodega Bay for years to come, for clients to get a better understanding of what seasons are best for what species. Overall this report is labeled as the Bodega Bay Fishing Report, but covers a wide variety of reports and information.
