Select a Report below to read our weekly Bodega Bay Fishing Report. When we fish Tomales Bay or Fort Bragg we will include fishing reports for those trips. If the weather is rough and we were unable to fish much, reports may be every other week or so. For brief information on typical season visit the What We Catch Page. Our fishing reports are honest and provide all of the good and the bad information.

Bodega Bay Tuna Fishing Report Week of 10-31-23
Bluefin still hanging around, Bite remains Hit or Miss 10-29-23 Capt Josh ran the Sorta Salty Today on his first bluefin tuna trip. He pulled up a nice 100lber (photos look more like 120lbs to me but he never taped it out and big tuna generally weight more than they look). Josh pulled the fish off a foamer ball and had him to the boat in about 25 minutes. That was the only bite for the day, but with bluefin that’s all you really need for a decent day. A lot of boats, but luckily mostly locals but it still…

Bodega Bay Tuna Fishing Report Week of 10-22-23
Bluefin Bite Still Wide Open 10-21-23 Capt Josh ran the Sorta Salty Today. He had an open charter interested in rock cod so he ran to the shallow grounds and pulled limits of nice quality rockfish and a few lingcod. The rock cod bite has started to slow down in the deeper water and has tapered off from where it was a few months ago, typically we are shifting to shallow water but DFG has not allowed us to do so for this year, on the bright side we will likely be getting a good chunk of Cordell Banks to…

Bodega Bay Tuna Fishing Report Week of 10-15-23
Wide Open Bluefin Tuna Fishing in Bodega Bay. 10-13-23 Today we charged out looking for albacore and ran into some solid bluefin foamers on the way out near an area we call the football west of fort ross. We trolled a few laps around them with the madmacs and continued to head west in search of albacore, we found the temp break and trolled for albacore and had a bite within 20 minutes and it unfortunately shook the hook, we kept trolling for a few more hours for nothing so we headed in for bluefin, we instantly ran into well…

Bodega Bay Tuna Fishing Report Week of 10-7-23
Big Albacore biting, Lots of Bluefin on the surface, Tuna season has arrived to Bodega Bay. 10-7-23 Left the dock at 530, headed due west to the caynon and put in right at the edge with 60 degree greenish blue water, had a few others boats within gyro range, saw some saurys jumping and locked the gyros in on them and saw 20lb albacore go full airborne close enough I could see it grab the bait mid air and I had a big sigh of relief knowing there was at least some fish on this water. We trolled way west…

Bodega Bay and Fort Bragg Tuna Fishing Report Week of 8-27-23
Wide open Albacore Bite out of Fort Bragg, Bluefin have arrived back to Bodega but remain hit or miss 8-20-23 With rumors of bluefin being back in town, and a boat full of SoCal commercial kite fisherman we decided to make the run south toward the islands to find bluefin. After some looking we sure found em. We spent all day kite fishing and marked a few solid schools. We did have one bite but the hook never set in its mouth good enough to stay on. I learned a whole lot from these guys on how to fly a…
Bodega Bay Fishing Report Information:
Captain Ryan primarily writes these fishing reports when he gets a chance on Sunday or Monday evenings. Sometimes life gets in the way and it gets delayed a bit, but if we leave the dock if the fishing’s good or bad it will end up on this report eventually. There’s very few to no other honest fishing reports that are written by local actually fishing as of 2023 besides Willy with the Lawsons Landing Report down at Dillion’s Beach. We will also include fishing reports for our personal trips (when we are lucky enough to get them in) and from friends or other boats when we can get them. We are working on expanding this section of the website and archiving fishing reports out of Bodega Bay for years to come, for clients to get a better understanding of what seasons are best for what species.
