Please visit our Pre trip information page immediately before or after booking any trip. There is critical information on that page relating to every trip we offer. Rough weather does happen often along our coastline, and while try to fish as many days as safely possible, there are a handful of days when the ocean is too rough and we have to cancel or reschedule trips. Your safety is always our #1 priority.

King Salmon Fishing Trip ( 6/27-7/22 & 8/1-8/31*)

Open Charter- Individual rate: $325 per person.
Private Charter- Entire Boat (max.6 people): $1800
We are thrilled to announce our Bodega Bay Salmon Charters will run from June 27th to July 22nd, and August 1st to August 31st. Please note: The state has instituted a strict 34,900 fish quota for the SF Management Zone. We expect heavy pressure on this quota. The season will automatically close once this limit is reached, regardless of the calendar dates. To guarantee a salmon trip, book earlier in the season.
Salmon fishing trips will depart from Bodega Bay unless otherwise specified. Trips typically depart at 6:30 and return by 2:30pm, please refer to exact departure time from captain day before at times may vary. All trips during salmon season will primarily target King salmon, once the boat has caught its limit of salmon (2 per person) we will return to the dock.
Don’t have six people for a private charter? We are now offering a private charter for up to 4 people for $1500.00 on the Sorta Salty. These trips will typically be ran by a captain alone without a deckhand (weather permitting). Allowing for a more hands on experience. So if you want to learn how to stack gear or net your son’s first fish for him, this might just be the integrated fishing experience you’ve been looking for. For this kind of trip, you will need to give us a call at 415-408-8019 so we can talk about your options.

We have potential to visit Cordell Banks, Rittenberg Bank and various other location from 250′ to 1000′ feet deep. If weather conditions allow and the majority of the boat is interested, you will be able to target Sable Fish or Sole using deep-drop gear after fishing for Rock Cod. Fort Bragg Albacore/Bigeye Tuna Trip ( August to October)

These exclusive trips are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, though we also offer a VIP Tuna Email List to announce pop-up dates when weather windows and catch reports align perfectly. Fort Bragg consistently brings warm water currents closer to shore than Bodega Bay or almost anywhere else on the West Coast. These trips typically require a 10 to 40-mile run, resulting in a 10 to 12-hour day on the water, but the payoff is incredible. These runs frequently produce the highest landings of any charter we offer—and frankly, almost any trip in the lower 48. It is very common for clients to fill several large coolers with hundreds of pounds of premium Albacore, and we also get opportunities for Bigeye Tuna, Yellowtail and other offshore exotics. Please come prepared and capable of handling a massive catch!
Please keep in mind that while the potential for massive hauls is high, pelagic fishing is highly variable and giant landings are never fully guaranteed. Because offshore weather dictates everything, ocean conditions can change rapidly. Rescheduling dates—sometimes more than once—is very common to ensure we get a safe and fishable window for your group. If you have any questions about our Albacore runs, or what to expect offshore, Please contact Capt. Ryan.
Bodega Bay Albacore/Bluefin Tuna Trip (Typically October Through November)

Early in the season we often drive southwest of Bodega Bay up to 50 miles in search of Bluefin schools scattered west the Farallon island or north for albacore tuna, private charters will have the option to chase either species, while open charters will typically take a group vote after the captain discuses the most viable option. Later in the season closer to November, Bluefin and albacore will both typically collect near Cordell banks about 18 to 30 miles west of Bodega bay feeding on anchovies, expect these days to be closer to 10 or 11 hours on the water, we will often try to leave the dock very early to be able to fish before sunrise, or late and fish the evening bite as that is typically the most effective times. Some days we can fish for both albacore and bluefin at the same time if conditions allow. Bluefin may be quartered at the dock for open charters, but is it is highly recommended that the fish rest on packed ice for at least 18 hours to allow the meat to firm up if possible. Processing with professional vacuum sealing may be offered. Again please contact Capt. Ryan if you have any questions. Please note that weather can be highly variable for these trips, and rescheduling dates is common to try and get a fishable day. Bluefin Tuna fishing is a high risk-high reward fishery, you are big-game hunting and may not always be successful. On the other hand there is always a chance we find a wide open bite and hook several fish per day over 150lbs and often into the 200lb range. Bluefin move in migration schools that often arrive any time of year if we have little to no northern winds for a month straight as they follow up warm currents. Typically this is the fall, and some years the bluefin never make it up to Bodega Bay, while some years they are off Bodega for several months straight, In short its a highly variable fishery, being flexible with dates and timing will ultimately result in best odds of landing 150+lb tuna.
Our captains and crew work very hard to catch you fish and provide you with a safe and fun day of fishing. Any gratuities at the end of the day are greatly appreciated. (A gratuity of 15-25% of your trip total is customary)
