Bodega Bay Salmon Charters Information:

King Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), widely known as Chinook Salmon, are the undisputed crown jewel of Northern California sportfishing. Ranging from the icy waters of Alaska down to the Central Coast of California, these powerful, silver-sided fish are the ultimate prize for anglers booking Bodega Bay salmon charters. While a typical ocean-caught King Salmon on our boats averages between 10 to 20 pounds, hooking into a massive 30-plus pound “hog” is the thrill of a lifetime that brings fishermen back to our docks year after year. King Salmon are highly prized not just for their blistering, drag-screaming runs, but for their world-class culinary value. Packed with healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, their rich, vibrant red meat is considered an absolute delicacy on the grill or in the smoker. Interestingly, King Salmon are anadromous, meaning they are born in local freshwater systems like the Sacramento River, migrate out to the nutrient-rich Pacific Ocean to feed on anchovies and krill, and eventually return to their exact birth rivers to spawn. When the Northern California salmon season is open, we target these magnificent fish by trolling with downriggers, using flashers paired with fresh bait or lures off the Marin and Sonoma coastlines. Tracking down a Bodega Bay King Salmon requires a mix of a captain’s intuition, top-tier gear, and angler determination. If you are looking to cross a true monster off your bucket list and bring home the finest fish the ocean has to offer, keep an eye on the 2026 salmon season updates and join us for a premier deep-sea fishing adventure.
