Bodega Bay Tuna Fishing Report Week of 10-13-24
With one of the windiest falls in recorded history hopefully behind us, a whopping 2 days of nice weather allowed us to get back on the tuna. I haven’t been posting much because we haven’t been able to fish very much at all. Persistent north winds has plagued this tuna season, but we are staying optimistic that calm seas are going to happen and the fish will wait for us. Bodega Bay Albacore Tuna Report 10-13-24 We fished on Friday for bluefin behind the islands, in short 0 fish for 12 boats running out of bodega, lots of bait and…

Bodega Bay Tuna Fishing Report Week of 9-9-24
Bodega Bay Albacore Tuna Report 9-8-24 After hearing some very good reports from the previous days out of Bodega, we decided to tow the Sorta Salty back down and fish Bodega Bay for the weekend. I just finished prepping our new 28′ parker the Bigeye. I wanted to take her out on a ride and spend a day fishing before I brought clients aboard. Josh took the Sorta Salty form bodega and I took the Bigeye from Tomales Bay and we headed southwest toward Cordell with high hopes and to search along with many buddy boats. I picked up a…

Fort Bragg Tuna Fishing Report Week of 9-2-24
Fort Bragg Albacore Tuna Report 8-30-24 We headed southwest toward arena canyon in the morning and found the break at about 40 miles away from the harbor. We searched all around and started hitting singles on smaller fish by 7:30am. At 9am I got a call from a buddy boat that the fish were biting north so we headed to 18 X 35 and started picking away at singles and doubles of good grade fish, we happened to hit a double on yellowtail and got one 8lber to the boat which was pretty exciting since I’ve never caught a yellowtail…

Fort Bragg Tuna Fishing Report Week of 8-25-24
Fort Bragg Albacore Tuna Report 8-23-24 We headed southwest into a flat calm ocean and found the temp break approximately 12 miles offshore and kept running a few miles to look for cleaner water. We put in and hit a double within half an hour of setting gear at 14.5 X 12.5, which is about 25 miles from the harbor. Then slowly started picking away at that area with a lot of singles and found a increasing south wind chop. By 10am we had 7 fish and the south wind was quickly building, based off the forecast for the wind…

Bodega Bay Fishing Report Week of 8-20-24
Bodega Bay Fishing Report 8-17-24 From Capt Josh. SATURDAY: Ran north with a group off 5. Flat ocean, but socked in hard. At one point it felt like it rained for a couple hours. The fishing also improved with limits of Rockies plus a few for the crew. We bounced up the line all morning finding schools that would only bite on your initial drop, then…

Bodega Bay Fishing Report Information:
Captain Ryan primarily writes these fishing reports when he gets a chance on Sunday or Monday evenings. Sometimes life gets in the way and it gets delayed. But if we leave the dock, whether the fishing’s good or bad, it will end up on this report eventually. Our Fishing reports will include Tomales Bay, Bodega Bay, Fort Bragg, San Francisco Bay and anywhere else we fish. You can expect fishing reports from Bodega Bay and Tomales Bay regularly. These reports are available for most of the summer, fall, and early winter. We continue until we dry dock the boat around Christmas. Currently the only other honest and first hand experience fishing report is from Willy with the Lawsons Landing Report down at Dillion’s Beach. We will also include fishing reports for our personal trips (when we are lucky enough to get them in) and tips and info from friends or other boats when we can get them. We are working on expanding this section of the website and archiving fishing reports out of Bodega Bay for years to come, for clients to get a better understanding of what seasons are best for what species. Overall this report is labeled as the Bodega Bay Fishing Report, but covers a wide variety of reports and information.
