Wind continues to blow, but the lingcod bite has started to improve.

Capt. Josh sent me the following  report.

Sunday May 26th we took the Taylor family north for some rockfishing. we started at sunken reef and worked our way up the line to timber cover where we managed over 30 rockfish and 5 lingcod. The rockies were a bit stubborn but the lings were biting good with many missed opportunities. overall a great day for their 10 year old and 6 year old sons.

Capt Josh ran this trip as well and sent this report.

Monday memorial day the swell was a bit bigger and the weather was more than they forecasted. we stopped off at sunken and picked up 3 keeper ling and threw back atleast 5 undersize. ended up at timber cover and proceeded to get lingcod limits for 7 passengers (clients and crew). The fish bit mackerel fished on trap rigs and Madame lure swimbaits.

On Friday we had a small weather window  to get out and catch some fish. We had a private charter with a full 6 clients. We headed north into a small but choppy swell and stopped in some shallow terrain in about 30 feet of water.  On the first cast with the 4″ swimbait we got bit by a Ling, then the bass rod bent way over a few seconds later. Took a few minutes but we put a 20lb Ling in the box hitch hiking off a smaller ling on the swimbait. We quickly gathers a handfull more lings on the bass rods and then seemed to have trouble getting some bite. After making some moves further north we found a few lings willing to bite on trap rigs and gather a few more fish, in both 40 feet of water, and out by the boundary in 120 feet of water.   We slipped in down shallow back to our fist spot after the wind picked up and found some rockfish finally willing to  eat and picked up about 40 mixed size fish with a handfull of really good reds and black coming into the mix. We finished the day with 11 keeper lingcod and probably about 11 undersize lings with a few that were too close to the line to keep. The action wasn’t wide open but it remained steady throughout the day and gave us a pretty good chance to fill the box

Looks  like we are having a lot of wind for the next few days and mid week we will finally get some good weather rolling in that will last. We are hoping to get a lot of trips in  while the lingcod stay biting.
