Wind finally dies but so does the bite | Bodega Bay Fishing Report – Memorial Day Weekend
We had a ton of wind for weeks and now that it has finally slowed down, so did the fishing.
Bodega Bay – 5/22/26
Capt Josh- Sorta Salty
Ran a light load on Friday 5/22 with Cody on deck. Ocean Conditions were 5×9, a little tight and mixed up, but fishable. We did have to back down on it with both engines all morning until it slowed down enough to only need one engine. We headed north and all we had all the way up the line was dirty dark water. We finally threw in the towell at glass house looking for cleaner waters, and proceeded to work our way back down the coast working all the usual spots. By the time we got to russian gulch and the day came to an end, we did manage 4 lingcod, limits of rockies and 1 cabezon.

Capt Billy- Sorta Salty
Captain Billy and Deckboss Cody ran a open charter of 5 people. Ocean Conditions were 4×9 and a little nicer than Friday, but still proved challenging to keep the boat at a slow enough drift to fish in the morning. Captain Billy started at Sunken and work their way north looking for any sign of biters. After searching ALL DAY and nearly having to throw in the towell, they finally hit pay dirt! Captain Billy’s clients went from under 10 fish and a few lingcod in 7 hours, to limits of 70 rockfish and 4 lings, for clients and crew in last half an hour!! …I’ve always said, “it’s not over, until it’s over”.

Ocean was flatter today and made for a pretty quick run up the line with Cody as my deckhand. regardless, we did have to back down all morning until it slowed down. we started out where Billy finished up, but couldn’t find the wide open school he found the day before. Back on the hunt we went, after a few hours we weren’t boxing much, then we came across the biggest school of quality blues I had seen all morning, and they were chomping!! We went from 7 or 8 fish in a couple hours to limits for 6 clients in a matter of minutes. We also ended up with 5 lingcod for the day.
