Back on the Water | Bodega Bay Fishing Report Week of 4-5-26

We are back on for 2026, and the fishing has started out solid with a good rockfish and lingcod bite. With salmon season to be released in the next few days (finalized on April 12th), we are looking at a very promising 2026. I’ve been busy getting the Bigeye wrapped up after some major overhauls, including a brand new fuel tank and deck, so Capt. Josh ran the Sorta Salty this weekend. We should have the Bigeye back in the water and running trips before next weekend. There’s been some political drama around the salmon season, and I have been working hard to try and get us a fall fishery in Bodega Bay. Regardless of September, we are looking at a pretty good summer of salmon fishing this year. Check back later this week for the salmon season update.

Bodega Bay – 4/3/26

Capt Josh- Sorta Salty

Josh reported the morning started off a bit choppy weather wise as the leftover scraps of wind slowly disappeared as the day went on and the fishing improved as the ocean calmed down. They ended up with a nice mix of rockfish a 4 lingcod for the day. Overall a decent day to start the season with.

Bodega Bay – 4/4/26

Capt Josh- Sorta Salty

Josh reported calm seas and wide open lingcod action. They quickly limited the boat on mid size lingcod in the 7 to 15lb range in 100 feet of water and gathered up limits of blues and a nice few reds in the mix. Sounded like epic fishing with flat calm seas, overall a killer day to be out on the water.

Bodega Bay – 4/5/26

Capt Josh- Sorta Salty

The calm seas remained and lingcod remained on the bite for Sunday, overall a good day with limits of lingcod and some nice rockfish. Overall an epic weekend and we hope the season remains this way!
