Description

The California Chinook salmon fishing season traditionally runs from May through October. Although for 2025 the season has been extremely limited with tight dates and a small quota. The quota will likely be filled by July 6th resulting in a 4 day season but severe weather or slow fish may extend the season into august. The September sub season will likely have good weather and close within the first 2 fishable weekends as well. The Chinook salmon is the largest and most valuable species of Pacific salmon in North America, as well as the largest in the genus Oncorhynchus. Other vernacular names for the species include king salmon. We typically experience peak Salmon fishing in Bodega Bay around mid to late July. The Bodega Bay area host some of the best salmon fishing in the west coast due to the mass amounts of sea life that gather off our coastline.
