Wide open albacore continues, Lots of Bluefin to the south still biting.

Fort Bragg Tuna- 8/18/25

Capt Ryan- F/V Bigeye

Another day of wide open albacore with 50 good quality tuna by 1pm. We started off the morning with the first line in the water getting hit and continued to put 20 mid grade albacore in the boat in the first hour and a half of fishing. We had several quads hookups and a 5 way in the mix with several fish coming in on the Farallon outfitter tungsten Jigs. The bite slowed for a couple hours then we found a pocket of fish to the west about 35 miles from the harbor and quickly gathered up another 30 fish with everything from doubles to a 6 way in the mix with many fish hitting the jigs on every stop. By 1pm we tossed in the towel and pointed home with 50 albacore that were close to a 20lb average and several fish in the upper 20 to lower 30lb range. We had nearly 1000lbs of fish on the boat and just about everyone’s arms were pretty tired. Heard of 1 bigeye landed over 200lbs and a few marlin bites that didn’t stick. There’s very good rumors of Bluefin off bodega bay and some confirmed albacore being landed so expect some Bodega Tuna reports on the next weather window. Again the epic bite continues and the decks are staying bloody, I have the feeling a epic fall is just beginning.
