Bodega Bay Fishing Report Week of 11-10-24
Lots of hot albacore action continues into mid November and the crabbing remains a bit hit or miss. I was out of town for the past few weeks elk hunting so I missed a lot of reports, but most of them were not too exciting, slower tuna fishing for Capt. Josh and Capt. Billy. Most days averaging a few albacore per day and a handful of big bluefin pulled hooks at the boat, which seems to be a common theme for many fisherman this year. Tough fishing but luckily it seems to be improving against all odds.
Bodega Bay Albacore Tuna Report 11-7-24
We managed to find a wide open albacore bite close to home off Bodega Bay. We left early and headed northwest above the football. We started the morning with a lot single and double hook ups right at first light, then by the late morning we chased bird balls and jumpers around hooking several quads of absolute jumbo fish with several fish over coming in over 30lbs. The tuna were aggressive and hitting hand lines and rods set close to the boat, making for a very hectic day. At 1pm with a fish hold stuffed full on tuna, we headed to the crab grounds to get limits for clients and crew of crab. Crabbing was very good and we hauled in 70 mid grade crabs with about a 6 average per hoop. While it was far from our largest number of albacore for the year, it was by far the best quality and one of the top days in terms of excitement and lbs of fish hauled in. We finished the day with 25 tuna, averaging well over 20lbs and 2 bluefin in the mix. Capt. Josh fished inshore on the Sorta Salty and reported a slower rock cod bite, the big swells over the previous day had made the fish hunker down.

Another day of solid November albacore and crab action out of Bodega Bay. Wee had a few buddy boats join us on the hunt for albacore and we sure found them. For some reason the smaller boats seemed to to better, as a few folks plugged their boats early in the morning, We ended the day with 14 jumbo albacore with the biggest at 30lbs and several in the high 20s. We lost a handful but the clients were more than happy so we headed in at noon to pull crab gear. Crabbing was great and we got back to the dock by 3pm with limits of jumbo crab and a handful of fat albacore. Capt Billy reported a better rockfish bite inshore but still not much happening on the lingcod front. The crabbing was great for both Billy and I and we averaged well over 10 keepers per hoop.

Bodega Bay Albacore Tuna Report 11-9-24
Capt. Josh ran the offshore trip for tuna and found that the water had shifted so he had to go back on the hunt to find the fish. Luckily by the early afternoon he found warm water with a school of biters and wrangled up 14 nice grade albacore. He stuck out a longer day but it was well worth the effort and collected a limit of crab on the way in as well.

I ran the inshore trip with 6 folks and we had some great rock fish action in shallow and pulled up 2 lingcod, one being a really nice 20lber. The Crabbing was incredibly good with a few hoops averaging above 20 keepers, allowing us to get pretty picky and pull some absolute jumbo crabs. I ran a 2nd crab only trip in the afternoon and the crabbing had slowed down but remained good with closer to a 10 average per hoop.

Capt. Josh And I both ran Inshore trips and it took a few spots but we found a area with consistent rockfish action and both limited on good quality blues, my group was fortunate enough to pull 5 good size lingcod in the mix with most of them being above 12lbs. The crabbing slowed down and we averaged about 5 legal crab per hoop for the morning trip, the afternoon was slower with about a 4 average per hoop but we still had limits for everyone for both morning trips and the evening crab only trip. Overall a great day.
